I had an rmail file open with imail and used 'o' to copy some
messages from it to an imail folder. Some of the messages show
up fine in the imail folder, but some show just the header -- no body!
I used 'o' again to copy from the original rmail file to a new
rmail-style file. When I read that new file with imail, it is fine
(all bodies show). Then I tried using 'o' to copy the messages
from the imail folder to another new rmail-style file.
When I read that new file with imail, it is fine (all bodies show).
Thus the messages were written in their entirely to the imail folder,
but just can't be read from there.

I'll take a look this afternoon. When you say `IMAIL folder', do you
mean `IMAP folder', i.e. a folder you get from just running `M-x imail
RET' in Edwin, as opposed to an RMAIL folder named by a file URL?
Also, if you type `C-c C-t C-m' when one of the hidden messages is
selected, what do you see aside from the full header?

I am not posting the bad messages right now for you, because
I don't really want to put them in a public place. Maybe
I should just e-mail you the headers?

If you are concerned about keeping the messages private, then can you
construct an isolated example of messages that exhibit the problem, by
stripping the private content from the message, say in a temporary
RMAIL folder? If that's too much trouble, then at least the headers
will be useful.

Or if what you are concerned about is just putting them in a public
place, and if a directory on CSAIL AFS is too public, then can you
send them encrypted either using PGP with my public key in
~riastradh/public_html/riastradh.pgp, or using S/MIME with my CSAIL
certificate in ~riastradh/public_html/riastradh.pem? Let me know if
you'd like me to tell you what incantations to invoke to do this.
