Well, the format change which happened in version 2.7 was rather more
intrusive, and nobody complained as far as I know. I don't expect the
removal of a trailing period to affect anyone out there.

Anyway, if this change or the previous one really affects some
application, its author is invited to consider using the new command
line interface rather than parsing the output of dmidecode, where
possible. The drawback is that doing so will make the said application
depend on a recent version of dmidecode, but the nice benefit is that
future output format changes will no more affect the application, and
it's also more efficient that way.
