If you are not an experienced user and would like to have a complete
system installed without worrying about details, assuming we are
talking about 100% FaiF distros as defined by the FSF -- see
https://gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html --, I would recommend you to
try Trisquel: https://trisquel.info . It is based off Ubuntu and is
more newbie-friendly.

On the other hand, if you want to discover the system from the inside,
and want to learn with your hands on it, you go good using a KISS
(Keep It Simple and Stupid) distro, like Dragora or Parabola. The
latter is a purification of Arch (GNU/)Linux, being listed on that
"Free Distros" page I pointed you to. The first is not based upon any
other distribution (I believe it's the only 100% FaiF AND autonomous
distro out there). Parabola is better supported, but Dragora can be a
good bet if you are willing to learn by contributing :-)
