    Services provided by Emacs are these four:

      Email selection (i.e., put the selection in the body of a new message)
      New buffer containing selection
      Open selected file (the selection had better name a file)
      Send mail to selected address

This seems legitimate.  It just lets Emacs respond to other
programs in a way that is normally used on MacOs.  So this
is not a MacOS-specific feature, but rather implementation
of a MacOS interface to Emacs.

    Now apart from Applescript and services (covered in a separate
    message), applications may respond to other kinds of events. One that
    Emacs does well is "open file"; the script above actually triggers
    such an event.

Ditto.

However, running Applescript programs FROM Emacs is a system-specific
feature for MacOS.  That is what ought to be deleted.
