I see what you mean.  Just like C-s doesn't replace M-x occur.

No, I don't think so.  My suggestions for isearch were not meant to
replace bibtex-search-entries.

Sounds good.  Would be overengineered for my uses of BibTeX, but it
might come in handy for other use(r)s.
