    I don't know of any "easy" way to do it now.

One could copy the old master files to Emacs using new file names or a
new directory.  Then take the versions that have been made for these
files in Emacs, and check them in one by one into the new file names.
Then rename these new master files in place of the old ones.

Would it work?
