There is no discussion, AFAICT. My message was the only one; no one
replied.
That said, there's no other place to discuss these issues, so I don't
think it would be a good idea to suppress such threads.

People who don't have time to read such discussions can easily skip
the messages. Thus, I don't see how it could be a distraction.
(And since the whole preparation of the next release IMHO sorely lacks
someone who will volunteer to coordinate and guide it on a day-by-day
basis, it is already ``distracted'' so much that no additional thread
can make things worse. I'm terribly sorry that my time doesn't allow
me to take that role.)
