Yes, if this were rendered with the subpixel hinting patch, this artifact wouldn't be present, because x-moves are ignored. In standard TT/monochrome hinting it would still be present though, as that isn't modified by the patches. Still, if it's an issue with the instructions in the font it should probably be fixed there.
