To begin with, you can probably get away with two commands:
tla archives --names
gets a list of registered archive names.
tla abrowse -A <archive name>
With various options, that can tell you lots of useful things about
the archive (or part of it), in a reasonably easily parsed format. If
the archive is remote, it's potentially costly, but it would be a
reasonable start.
Specifically, "tla abrowse -A <archive name> -s -D" lists all
revisions, each with a date and one-line summary.
