It's obvious how it works (it's a technique that has been available in
Info for at least a decade) and it is an improvement.  However, this
improvement is going to be most useful to people who already have a

Sure.  I'm not proposing getting rid of the built-in help, I'm
proposing a second interface, to make it more accessible to people who
want to browse.
