The game Tom and I were talking about is "industry funding for
development of important new classes of application"; I should think
that the fact that Tom is not even sitting in the stands (until very
recently) is obvious from your own post---see below.
Furthermore, Tom is a former employee of the Artist Formerly Known As
Cygnus Solutions. Nobody is willing to say much about the separation,
but it clearly was an issue of refusing the boss's orders, not
incompetence or being hired away by a competitor.
I think it's fair to say he left the game.

That's an apt description of "a hero," but not of "an entrepreneur."

No, you just have more flexible definitions of some halo words than I
do. That's nice, but it doesn't help connect Tom with money and
influence. I think we can agree that it would be a good thing if he
had more of both?
