I use the cvs that comes with cygwin.
It is likely assuming local Unix style line ends, so does not convert anything.
What are you using Paul may be assuming local DOS style line ends, so
converts the incoming file from unix-style to DOS style, which is fine for
all but the DSP & DSWs.

Paul: What CVS client are you using?  Can you set it to transfer the DSP
& DSW files as binary, rather than doing the on-the-fly conversion for them?
