Sounds like you have installed python3, not python. My python is 2.7.15rc1. If you want to continue to use python3, uninstall the python-dev package(s) and install python3-dev instead. "apt search <package>" is your friend. Sometimes I go to https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/allpackages to figure out what wierd name they've given to a package. Best regards, Kai |
