Hi again,

No - it doesn't really work.

I think I found the delinquent: emacs-rails alias rails-minor-mode. After 
requiring that one and
activating rails-minor-mode the menu killing effect is there: all menu items to 
the right of the RoR
menu item disappear after clicking RoR or any item to the right (loading rails 
last only leaves the
"Help" item).
Now anyway the RoR seems to work but I do not trust the situation ...

can you suggest help or do have I have to file an error to emacs-rails - I 
think I will.
