I use "sudo emacs -nw <filename>" in terminal to edit configuration files with super-user permissions. I know about tramp, but as a single-desktop Linux user, I've not had much occasion to use it to edit remote files. Hence I forget the tramp commands. "emacs -nw" is easy to remember for me.
