Please try a more recent version of Lilypond.
If you want to stick to the, so called, stable
versions, try 1.2.17, otherwise I can recommend
the latest development version, 1.3.148, which
is very close to the next "stable" release, 1.4.
Both are available at the Lilypond WWW site,
www.lilypond.org.
