Luckily, in my reply to your next email we've agreed that it doesn't
need a backport. ;-)

Nope.  The test was broken before the new feature.  The test fix Albert
suggested before implementing hardcode_direct_static needs a backport.
It's just the new feature that doesn't.

Oh right... I hadn't noticed tests/linkorder.test in the branch-1-5
tree.  I'll do the backport.
