Hi
here come my comments: line numbers always refer to the itely file
a general note for mensural notation: I had some experiments with
reducing the spaces between notes with long durations -- ideally the
notes should have the same spacing all over. Han-Wen wrote me in Februry
this year:
This is very badly tested, but
\header {
texidoc = "
In packed mode, pack notes as tight as possible. This makes
sense mostly in combination with raggedright mode: the notes
are then printed at minimum distance. This is mostly useful
for ancient notation, but may also be useful for some flavours
of contemporary music. If not in raggedright mode, lily will
pack as much bars of music as possible into a line, but the
line will then be stretched to fill the whole linewidth.
"
}
\version "2.11.40"
\layout {
ragged-right = ##t
}
\relative {
\override Score.SpacingSpanner #'packed-spacing = ##t
c2 d4 f8[ g]
}
I didn't check it then, but this might indeed be included into the docs
and maybe illustrated with an example, especially to improve the
spacing of the ligatures.
l. 186: better @emph{enclosing} to make the difference between the
normal syntax
-section mensural contexts: mention, what changes this context does,
what style is being used (mensural?) -- I think it is a bug that the
accidentals aren't changed accordingly to something ancient looking
-section mensural time signatures: the example shows _all_ available
styles, this doesn't seem to be the right place, at least single-digit
and numbered styles should not be shown here.
-mensural accidents: actually a sharp should be set to cancel a flat
according to rules of that times: there was no sign like a natural, and
e.g. petrucci uses a cross/sharp
l. 928: better: Horizontal spacing of ligatures is poor.
-section Incipits: there is already an example as a template in LM,
another way discussed on the list is to put the whole incipit into a
markup and include it instead of the instrument name -- I remember
Nicolas also did some work to make this working better.
So far my comments.
Greetings
Till
