I just modified my scripts that turn my ABC data entry into lilypond
so that the rehearsal letters that I type as text above a given note
are turned into:
a4 \mark \default b4
rather than:
a4 ^"A" b4
This seems virtuous, but there is a side effect. The text above the
note comes right over the note a4, but the rehearsal mark is put
between the a4 and the b4. This is potentially confusing. In
general, for the music I set, the best bet at finding a place where
all the parts hit a note at the same time is to use a cadence point,
so you are marking the end of the phrase. The beginning of the next
phrase is typically at a different place in all the parts, and the
cadence note may well be a different length in each part. So I want
it to be clear that the rehearsal mark applies to the note it's
over, and not the next note.
Is there a property of the rehearsal mark that would adjust this
behavior?
