Sometimes, it could be as easy as:
\aNotes = { ... }

\score {
#(if (not (defined? bNotes))
(define bNotes aNotes))
\bNotes
}
except that I cannot get this to work...
I'm afraid my lisp skills get in the way of lilyscheme :)
