Glad to see you remember :-)
Actually, I think a few of us are convinced LilyPond's can have a
future as a client+server application (you mentioned Google docs,
please also have a look at codeide.com : that's the kind of thing I
had in mind when thinking about it).
So far, here are the client/server projects I'm aware of:
- the LSR (Sebastiano has developed the --jail mode for LilyPond, that
allows to run it on the server side without too much security issues).
It involves a quite hairy architecture besides the LilyPond part
(Apache/Java/etc.)
- the Wikitex-like LilyPond extension for MediaWiki,
- the LilyPond plugin for Wordpress
- the Lilypond plugin for SPIP, which is developed by Christophe
Richard from the French team, and has integrated my
syntax-highlighting mode,
- the new wikilily.org project, that looks promising.
