Unfortunately it does not. I observe the same error message:

[0]$git clone http://git.savannah.gnu.org/r/lmi.git
Cloning into 'lmi'...
fatal: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/r/lmi.git/info/refs not valid: is this 
a git repository?
