Rob,
I threw your lynxfriendly.gif into the gif construction set, and changed the
background color to transparent on all the images (by editing the control
blocks) but it didn't work out well. I think you would have better luck if
you leave the animation on a plain colored background (needn't be white of
course) and just use invisible colors to make the background non-rectangular.
For instances, you might get a picture of a lynx (you know, the furry feline
kind), make a silhouette of it, and place your animation on the silhouette.
Then, use transparent colors to make the part around the silhoutte transparent.
