And many where I could only "./configure --prefix=$HOME"

Many people are surprised when I express surprise at their dislike of some
new Outlook or Thunderbird or GMail "feature".  "Why do you let them upgrade
you, if you don't like it?".

And they then learn that I've been using the same mail system for 20+ years,
and they are startled that such a thing is possible.

I explain that those new-fangled things are way too complicated for me.
"I'm not particularly good or patient with computers", I explain to
them ironically. (usually, having just fixed theirs)
