XMs usually come from fast tracker2... but I haven't seen any
impressive surround sound come out of trackers (unless it was done *in*
the samples). Usually it's just something like invert & short delay, I
think. Basically, if you try to play the same sample non-surround in the
same row, you'll hear it exclusively in the left ear. Bytes a bit. OTOH,
lots of really fun effects can come out of playing with surround, panning
and the pitch of a sample. I've got one (IT) mod that has a point
where a sample actually sounds like it's spatially higher than the rest.
It was a fluke. I'd really like to know how to do this on purpose...
