Follow-up Comment #24, bug #49118 (project octave): Related to earlier posts. I did a complete clean and re-build of the MXE-octave version with Qt5 enabled. There are no weird segfaults due to having both qt4 and qt5 libraries present. It doesn't appear to solve this issue because I can't generate an umlaut character in the Command Window. I can take an umlaut from another source, such as a web page or the notepad editor, and paste it into the Editor window.
