Attached is yet another version (perhaps a bit incomplete) in which I tried to
cut down on the number of different regexps.
However, on my laptop (which BTW is 2 X slower than my desktop) it didn't make
much difference reading the file in comment #14, it was ~128 secs (version of
comment #13) versus ~125 secs. (this version). Inside profshow's results there
wasn't much difference either. Apparently there's little to be gained by
combining regexps, it seems to be the total complexity that counts.
Maybe you can experiment with it a little if you want.
