Follow-up Comment #1, bug #53931 (project octave):
First, you should go to the bugs list and search on JIT. There
are about thirty bug reports that reference JIT.
The first problem with the current code is that it depends on a
long out-of-date version of JIT. When that old version was
current the implementation did sort-of work, i.e. there
were no identified errors, but the implementation was incomplete.
Next, if you want this to become a part of Octave you should
base what you do on the current dev system, not stable.
The JIT development group, in the past, has shown no interest
in maintaining a compatible system from one release to the
next. This was an important reason why the Octave devbelopment
stalled out. It might be good to check if the current JIT is
likely to maintain some compatibility with respect to future
releases.
If you just want to do this for your own personal use you are,
of course, free to do that. But, best not to expect a lot of
support from others.
