Follow-up Comment #6, bug #50692 (project octave):
I can't reproduce the problem with 4.4.1 and Windows 7 running in a virtualbox
vm.
This sounds like a readline input event hook function is somehow installed and
that it is displaying a newline character, except in that case it should
happen every 0.1 seconds. I have no idea what would write a newline every 30
seconds.
