  Ah I see,
Sorry about that. Normally I like to run/test programs before
 installing them. :)

Is there anyway to do the 'fltk-config -post' in a pre-install
situation? If not that is fine, I now know how to do it manually.

Hi Wayne,

The install-exec-hook in the exrdisplay Makefile.am should run
'fltk-config --post' on your exrdisplay binary which, on OS X, installs
the resource hook. Until you actually install the exrdisplay binary via "make install", this doesn't get run, but it should happen once you do the
make install step.

So I found the following needs to be added to the
makefile for exrdisplay, otherwise one can't get
focus on the window and it is not treated as a mac
  app:

/Developer/Tools/Rez Carbon.r -o exrdisplay

I am not sure how to add this to the makefile myself, but
did find it helped to run this manually on the executable in the
.libs dir (after it is linked) and not the exrdisplay script. ;)
