1) Pan has reverted to deleting failed tasks from the queue even if you
don't have the check-box checked for doing that. IIRC Pan was doing
this 2-3 releases ago but got fixed; now it's broken again.
[While we're on the topic, maybe this would be a good place to suggest
a bit more granularity for the deletion option. As I understand it the
server's "423 bad article number" failure message means that the
article has been purged from the server, so these should presumably be
deleted regardless of what the user preference is. However, those of
us still on phone links get lots of timeouts and stuff that leave the
tasks well worth trying again, so the option for retaining non-423
failures needs to be available.]
2) Pan is no longer reserving a channel for browsing in the foreground
while downloading queued articles, and I can't find the old dialog that
let you set up the total number of channels to be used and reserve one
for browsing. (Am I merely overlooking it somewhere? At any rate my
former preference has not been preserved and it's quite impossible to
get any reading done while you I a backlog queued up; it sometimes
downloads several large articles while I'm waiting to read a single
small one.)
3) My log viewer is showing an occasional glib "bad file descriptor"
error, though I foolishly cleared the log before writing it down. I'll
post it next time I spot it, but maybe others will see it first.
