Maybe it's time to check in with the multisync guys.  It seems as though their
server system is coming along nicely.

If there system can speak SyncML to Sync4j or a XMLRPC plugin can be written
to phpgroupware, then it seems that they already have sync systems for all the
major sync platforms.
