Post the output of
grep -r mcrypt /etc/php4/c*
If it is commented out or missing, run the following command
sudo dpkg-reconfigure php4-mcrypt

Adjust the cron job to run more frequently then you will get the message
more often and you shouldn't be bothered anymore ;)
