[Savannah-hackers] Re: Savannah & non GNU projects

There is one good example. A project including a DocBook
    manual was submitted.

Note that a manual in DocBook format is entirely ok in a GNU package,
provided it converts automatically into good Texinfo. That should not
be considered a problem.

Please also note that a package does not have to comply with the
coding standards *before* being accepted as a GNU package. I've
accepted things as GNU packages which needed work, which would take
time, in order to follow the GNU standards in technical ways. As long
as the developers make a commitment to do that work, we can trust them
to do it.

The things which I insist the developer change *before* accepting a
package are those that raise nontechnical issues (such as encouraging
use of non-free software, or calling the system "Linux") and those
which raise doubt on whether the package is suitable or good enough.
