It's a "unified context diff" (diff -u) rather than an old-style
context diff (diff -c).  If you're an Emacs user, load the file
into a buffer, suffix .diff should automatically invoke diff-mode,
then there's a command to convert between both formats.

patch accepts both as input without trouble.
