Sounds like they are starting to run, and then fail for some reason.
The only thing I can suggest is to take a look at the environment
variables you've set and look for conflicts, esp. SWARMHOME. Failing
that, try building, say, heatbugs from source. The demos are complied
without `console' support but your compile will have it. This way,
you may get a diagnostic. Failing that, there's no way to know what's
wrong without running it under the debugger.
