how to use images in simulations in Java

Hi,
in the last mail I didn't specify that I am using Java, because up to
now it was quiet easy to translate between Objective-C code and Java.

In Objective-C you use PixMap class to display small PNG images. But I
wasn't able to find
the Java equivalent of that class.
Any clues? or (even better) code doing it in java ?
