Truss is less useful that GDB for this. Can you get a backtrace?
$ gdb heatbugs
(gdb) run
(gdb) bt

You might try this binary package:
ftp://ftp.swarm.org/pub/swarm/binaries/solaris-2.7/swarm-2001-11-24.tar.gz
Extract it in /home/swarm1 and set SWARMHOME to that.
