This is a Paul Johnson caused rpm problem, not a swarm caused problem.
I upgraded to Emacs 21.1 and incidental to that was a change in libpng.
I got the rpms from the redhat rawhide site about 2 months ago.
I see
$ rpm -qa | grep libpng
libpng-1.2.0-1
libpng-devel-1.2.0-1
libpng10-1.0.12-1
$ rpm -ql libpng
/usr/lib/libpng.so.3
/usr/lib/libpng.so.3.1.2.0
/usr/share/doc/libpng-1.2.0
/usr/share/doc/libpng-1.2.0/CHANGES
/usr/share/doc/libpng-1.2.0/README
/usr/share/doc/libpng-1.2.0/TODO
/usr/share/doc/libpng-1.2.0/example.c
/usr/share/doc/libpng-1.2.0/libpng.txt
/usr/share/man/man5/png.5.gz
In case those differ from your machine, it could explain it. I put those
rpms in my software directory
http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/software
I do not know if it is necessary to change all these libpng packages,
but it is that way on my system.

Dear Swarm group
I have tried to install swarm-2.1.129.20020114-1 a couple of times on
Redhat 7.1
I get the following fatal dependency error: libpng.so.3 is needed by
swarm-2.1.129.20020114-1
I have libpng in the following places, is my libpng setup incorrect?
usr/lib
libpng.a
libpng.so.3 -> libpng.so.3
libpng.so.3 -> libpng.so.3.1.2.1
libpng.so.3.1.2.1
usr/lib
libpng.a
libpng.so -> libpng.so.2
libpng.so.2 -> libpng.so.2.1.0.12
libpng.so.2.1.0.12
libpng.so.3
libpng.so.3.1.2.1
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Yours sincerely, Paul Charteris
