Hi Alex,

thank you very much for your helpful reply ! :)

The version of the (I think) related programs are

 Python 2.3.4
 scons:
SCons by Steven Knight et al.:
script: v0.96.90.D001, 2005/02/15 20:11:37, by knight on casablanca
engine: v0.95.D001, 2004/03/08 07:28:28, by knight on casablanca
   Copyright (c) 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 Steven Knight
(This is the output I get when doing a "scons --version"

 gcc 3.3.4

I updated scons to the current version some time due to the problems
I have with installing yafray but it does not help. I dont know what
version I had before installing the current one.

If all application would fail to build, which are using scons
(blender for example is far bigger than yafray and I am really able
to use my Linux box while blender is compiling which I can forget
while yafray tries to reach the electrical light of its
existence....), I would say there would be something really wrong
with my system, but yafray is the only application which turn my
system into a cpu hardcore tester..... ;)))

Anything else I forgot to report ?
Hmmm...for the moment I dont think so (this will rapidly change,
when I have pressed the "SEND" button, hehehe....)

 Have a nice weekend!
 Meino
