I hate Perl. Really. I mean it.
I'd much rather go for Python or some other readable scripting
language.
However, my recent involvement with the development of autoconf has
been so close to zero that my opinion about the language of choice for
implementing it can be disregarded. I think I can read Perl well
enough to be able to review patches and ask questions about points I
find doubtful :-)
