Configuration of gnu packages fails in system without c++. This
happens when compiling gettext, iconv and libtool.
Configuration fails after the test for cxx cpp. I have tried
different switches and other tricks like commenting out
portions of the configure scripts. I tried rebuilding the
configure script after modifying configure.ac but still it does
not work. Configure just bails out with the same error message
all the time.
configure: error: c++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
