Eric,
Thanks for your reply.
I have done another test to try to understand the origin of the problem of 
Insight and AVARICE on Win98 PC.
I execute simulavr as gdb server as follow:

simulavr -g -d atmega128 file.bin,

then I execute avr-insight repeating the same commands as in case of avarice.

Insight connect successfully to simulavr on my Win98 system !!!

So I think that the problem of Insight to avarice connection is due to avarice.

Thank you again for your good work.

For the future version of WinAVR, why not consider patch in case of new
version of some WinAVR tools instead of the complete package (simple zip or
other compressed file to extract over the existing WinAVR installation) ?
