I could reproduce it with my AUCTeX version.  Seemingly some PDFTeX
warning that has a format fooling the file name detector.

Again.  This is really a nuisance.  Did you already check in the
change that just relied on a closing paren and nothing else?  Maybe we
should just stop detecting closing parens at all, and when an error
occurs, we pop the stack until we find a corresponding buffer with the
right information.  If we don't, we repeat that checking every file we
find in that process.  Ok, not too good an idea, as we'll be checking
every style file...
