Hi Emden,
Up until recently, my programs have linked fairly quickly. Of late, linking now takes on the order a minute.
If you tell us what you changed we might be able to guess a reason.
Only a few files have been added. As a test, I rebuilt multiple older versions of our software. I am positive these linked quickly. (Otherwise, I would have gone crazy trying to debug the software.) The current link times are about the same as with the newest software, so I wouldhave to say something has changed on my linux box.
So you are saying that you changed the version of the linker that you are using, is that correct ? If so, what was the version of the older (and faster) linker that you were using ? Also, if you try using the current binutils release (2.15) or the current development version, do you get your faster linking back ?
Cheers Nick
