You may wish to consider having cppcheck

as part of your development process. 

I've reported all the bugs I thought were appropriate with
today's cppcheck and today's binutils.

It's always possible new bugs may be introduced in new
binutils development, and cppcheck gets better, so it may find
old bugs in old code too.

Just an idea.
