I would definitely prefer having patches and bug reports sent
to this mail list, instead of using these trackers. Nevertheless,
I do inspect them from time to time, to make sure nothing gets lost.
Speaking about GNU tar patch tracker, among 8 issues listed there,
three are assigned to me, and two of them are already taken care
of. Six issues are still waiting for resolution. I quite agree
that we'd better close that tracker to avoid further confusion, but
obviously we can do so only after all its issues are resolved one
way or another.

In a way, yes. Actually, only project members can submit new
bugs there. It would be a nice option for the patch tracker
too. Thanks for reminding me about it :)
