This is the best version to use if you are not using Cygwin.

If you need a more current binary, perhaps we can make arrangements
off-list to get you one.

I think the tr solution should be enough to remove NULs for the
moment, and the problem is fixed in the current code base.

I hope to make a real release in the next few weeks; I'm currently
trying to beat one or two bugs into submission and then I can
start my release process in earnest.
