glibc 2.1.3 build fails |

Hello....
I am trying to build glibc-2.1.3 on RedHat 6.2 with a 2.4.0 kernel
installed. The compilation goes well for awhile, but
then the build fails executing ld-linux.so.2. Tools and their versions are:
make: 3.78.1
binutils: 2.9.5.0.22-6
gcc: version egcs 2.91.66 19990304/Linux (egcs 1.1.2 release)
kernel: 2.4.0 built from sources in /usr/src/linux
Output from the make is:
gnu-build/elf/ld-linux.so.2 --library-path
/gnu-build:/gnu-build/math:/gnu-build/elf:/gnu-build/nss:gnu-build/nis:/gnu-
build/db2:/gnu-build/rt:/gnu-build/resolv:/gnu-build/linuxthreads
/gnu-build/sunrpc/rpcgen -Y `gcc -print-file-name=cpp | sed "s|/cpp$||"` -c
rpcsvc/rstat.x -o /gnu-build/sunrpc/xrstat.T
make[2]: ***[/gnu/sunrpc/xrstat.stmp] Aborted (core dumped)
make[2]: Leaving directory `/gnu/sunrpc'
make[1]: ***[sunrpc/others] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/gnu'
make[1]: *** [all] Error 2
I have the glibc-2.1.3 source installed in /gnu-src. I created a separate
build directory /gnu-build. CD'd to /gnu-build.
Ran the following configure command:
../gnu-src/configure --enable-add-ons
--with-headers=/usr/src/linux/include -- prefix=/gnu-install.
Is this a problem with gcc, or with rpcgen, or ld-linux.so.2, environment?
I also tried building glibc with gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release) with
the exact same results.
Thanks
