Hi,
i have a little question/problem with tar. I make a backup from solaris7 to
a hp-ux11 server. On solaris i use gnu-tar 1.13 on HP-UX gnu-tar 1.13.18 For
the backup i pipe the files with tar through
a ssh-tunnel the HP-UX server. This works fine, but in some cases i get an
error if i test the tar-file with tar -tf. The error messages at the end
looks like this
----------------------
/opt/tar/bin/tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
/opt/tar/bin/tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
----------------------
if i use the hpux tar i got this message at the end
----------------------
directory checksum error
----------------------
what does this means. ? Wy get i two differents errormessages and what is
with the tar-file. The files are OK or bad ?
thanks for help
